85km MTB Race
The riders proceed along Glen Avon Drive
untill they reach the Glen Avon local road. From there the race
proceeds through 10km of farmlands before reaching the Glen Avon Pass.
From there it is a hard climb up the Glen Avon Pass, then straight into
a rough challanging decent into Bethaven Game Reserve with a lot of
jeep track.
The route then turn onto the Klipfontein road and proceed through the
irrigation farms along the Fish River, eventually turning turning back
towards Bosberg on a long climb with the gradient peeking in the last
kilometers before the summit.

After reaching the summit, the riders proceed back down the same
interresting terrain, fininshing back in Somerset East at the Sports
Grounds.
60km MTB Race
From the start the riders proceed along Glen Avon Drive for the first
part of the race. The race then proceeds through about 10km of
farmlands
before reaching a tough 2km climb up Avon Heights. Here, the descent
towards the Glen Burnie Game farm starts (roughly 2km from the
summit).
The next 21km takes you through the game farm and includes a 11km loop
- mainly farm road and jeep track, and is fairly rocky in patches.
There are a couple of good climbs and water crossings. The scenery is
magnificent, with plenty of game to be seen! Impala, Letchwe, Eland and
Blue Wildebees are in abundance. There is a water point at the entrance
of Glen Burnie.

The route then turns into quite a hard climb back to Avon Heights and
then a great 2km descent back along the road out, through the township,
then back home!

25km MTB Race
The 25km route follows the 60km route but turns around at the top of
Avon Heights. This race will present a real challenge to the serious
MTB enthusiast, while at the same time, is ideal for the recreational
cyclist who just wants to enjoy beautiful Karoo scenery and see some
game.
All mountain bike cyclists are urged to be aware of game crossing.
Difficulty: There are no technical sections, and all dangerous areas
will be clearly marked and flagged!
